Some years feel longer than others…this last two, 2020 and 2021 felt like a decade. And this month, was a long, long month. I had my booster shot – got sick, powered through it in time to have a holiday visit with extended family (starting on one of the worst rain storm days) and then when I got home, got sick again and then our washer/dryer combo finally bit the big one after hubby had repaired it a couple of times over the years.
Today, the last day of 2021 – I am still on the mend from whatever it was I had, and we have a new washer/dryer combo and a couple weeks of laundry to catch up on.
I don’t feel like I was very productive in this last year. Although I have done a lot more experimental painting and crafts; I haven’t written as much as I had hoped I would. The pandemic writers block that I watched others experience in 2020, caught up with me this past year, and while I was able to crank out some blog posts and articles for friends to use; I didn’t do much work on my own projects.
And somehow, I am okay with all of that. If I were younger, I would be berating myself for not getting as much done as I “could have”….instead, I am grateful that I got done what I got done. And I have a lot of ideas for projects going forward. So my to do list is always getting longer, and I am fine with the idea that I will get to them when I get to them.
Today, I feel like the laundry that is piled up and in process of getting washed, is a perfect metaphor for the changing of the years… wash out the old and prepare to bring in the new.
2022 – whatever you have in store, I will be ready to embrace what I can, with open arms. And to help whomever I can, whenever I can. That’s really all I can do – and I think that will be enough. May the new year bring you love, health, and prosperity – and the time to enjoy them all in good measure.
